Mission Team

我们一起去做社会关怀的工作,一起为着聚会排练等…Thank God that in the past 2 weeks, we received a mission team from Doulos. There were altogether 6 members in the team that came from 5 different counties (Russia, South Korea, Philippines, Switzerland and Canada). In these 2 weeks, we had a very tiring but very meaningful ministry. We went to do community works together, arranging and practicing for services etc.

We are all from different countries and different church backgrounds, we have different mindsets and cultures but we had to serve and work together. Thus there were some unavoidable frictions during the partnership.

But after a week of serving and church services, they told me, “Kelvin, we realized not only you all (church workers) only, but this is the culture of your church, for the sake of God and the church, you all do it with all your might. This is the passion towards God’s house and ministry.”

Adding on the classes on Cultural Mandate every morning, they started to understand the purpose of us serving with all our might. What touched them the most was when they asked a church member, how could all of you serve like this, isn’t it tired? The reply they got from the member was, because our pastors have been working so hard, we too, should work like this! Hallelujah. We are truly proud of such church member.

In the last few days, we realized that the whole team had a newly changed mindset aboutserving. They started to accept us and we had a very good partnership. Thus we had 2 very good and fruitful services.

I think their coming this time showed me a new revelation about what God wants our church to do in this city. Especially in the serving of the last few days, God showed me His works. I realized what God wants to do is not something new. Because I saw what God wants to do through this mission team will not be stopped or affect by the differences in culture, religion background or mindset. I was very excited while sharing my thoughts with them because I know what God wants to do is what He is doing in the whole word. Church, we are in the flow of revival. Let us continue to press forward! Comply the Great Commission, fulfill the Great Commandments and execute the Cultural Mandate.

the usual~ =x
then by 7:15 the service started...

.:Praise And Worship:.

Heaven - CityHarvestChurch

Shine Like Stars - TrueWorshippers

then for worship:
让我 Rang Wo - CityHarvestChurch
&
I Just Want You - PlanetShakers

Jumpstart to
.:The Preaching:.

- Isaiah 1:19 -
"If You Are Willing And Obedient, You Shall Eat The Good Of The Land"

Willingness & Obedience:

1 King 13
- The Man Of Judah
In this part of the Bible, it tells of a man who was anointed to be a prophet but was disobedient to what God wanted him to do, thus at the end he was eaten by a lion

1 King 17 - Elijah Predicts A Drought
After the Man Of Judah, Elijah was anointed to be a prophet as well, but unlike the Man of Judah, Elijah was willing and obedience to what everything God wanted him to do~
in his life he did 7 major miracles:

-Prophecy of the drought-
-Miracle of meal and oil-
-Resurrection of the widow's son-
-Sacrifice consumed by fire-
-End of the drought-
-Captains & soldiers slain by fire -
-Parting of the Jordan River-

1 King 19:19-21 - Elisha was made Elijah's Disciple

but from there we don't read anymore about Elisha until 2nd kings.
Ps. Kelvin Loo related these to the Kung Fu movies he use to love watching~
where the student have to follow their master for a long period of time before being taught the martial arts~
and said the same goes for Elisha, through out all the things Elijah did, Elisha was mostly likely there as Elijah's servant.. for in last part of
1King 19: 21 "Then He Set Out And Followed Elijah, and became his servant (NRSV)"

the reason for this is because in order for one to be given the privilege to become a disciple you must first becaome strong in your character; if your character and intentions are wrong you would use the privilege given, wrongly. You dont serve to gain, you serve because it's a privilege.

God's Anointing Pass from One Person To Another;
After the death or rather ascension of Elijah,
Elisha was anointed 2 folds of what was given to Elijah~
and like Elijah, Elisha was willing and obedient in the things he did.
all together Elisha did 14 major miracles; all quite similar to what Elijah did.

After Elisha however, the anointing of God was to be passed down,
the chosen one then was Gehazi, Elisha's servant~
and in
2kings 5 - The Healing Of Naaman
shows one of the miracle done by Elisha, he healed Naaman of his leprosy.
Elisha asked Naaman to wash in the river of Jordan 7 times, he did as he was asked and was healed. After Naaman was healed he offered gives to Elisha, but Elisha said to him:
"As The Lord lives, whom I serve I will accept nothing"

however, in 2kings 5: 20 - 26 - Gehazi's Greed
that part of the bible showed how Gehazi's disobediance towards God and his personal greed. And that was the end of the anointing passed down from Elijah.

-Kelvin Loo's Testimony-
~The Privilege To Serve~
might not be 100% accurate~ =X

[I First Started serving God at the age of 17, I never wanted to be a pastor.
Ever since I was little I wanted to be a lawyer.
Because they earn big, have big houses and expensive cars; it was the only dream i had. But God wanted me to be a pastor, and a pastor I became.
When I first went to church, I Did everything. The first Job i was given was to copy the church bulletin, but back in those days we didnt have photocopying machine they used... (i dunno the name, here's a pic)

back then in order to photocopy anything we use this, I was the only person doing the job, its actually quite easy all I had to do was wind the lever, and each wind = one bulletin. It wasnt hard just very boring, the worst part was that my church back in Sabah was a 3000 people church! After photocopying i had to fold all the bulletins as well.

Not long later, I was promoted become the church van driver, I was literately the pastor's driver; I drove the pastor everywhere.
Then I was promoted again to mail delivery; back then most church members didnt use their own address but used the church's P.O. Box. So I had to pick up all the mail, bring them to church & sort them out alphabetically.
After awhile, I was promoted again; The pastor ask me to lead Praise and I did. Then I was promoted again, to be Soundman then to camera man, sometimes I was appointed to work in the bookstore and helpout in the youth ministries, so i really did everything in my church and that is where I learnt how to be a servant of God and it was a privilege to serve him.

In 2001, was the start of City Harvest Church Singapore. When I went there I was asked to serve under Pastor Kong Hee, serving in a church is actually very easy, you only need to do 2 things:
-Listen to God
-Listen to your Pastor
You pray and listen to God,
& if you're confused or don't understand at all, go ask your pastor ;
if he said "Ok", then do it, if he said "Dont do it", then dont do it.

It's simple~
I remember there was one time, where I wanted to leave the church to go elsewhere. Before i did, i went to seek council from Pastor. Kong Hee, I told him I wanted to leave. But He said;
Maybe you shouldnt leave, you were brought up here, you're rooted here.
By then i left the church all heartbroken and sad because before I went to seek his council was already prepared to go. But then I thought it through; There's no point for me to leave. What's the point of doing what I want when God doesnt want me to or when my Pastor think it's not what I should do. If I went and did what I wanted to, I know I'd never be able to face my pastor as I disobeyed him. But for God I was willing to let go of my dream and obeyed what I was asked to do.]

In Conclusion:
"To be Anointed by God one have to be willing and obedient in serving God"

Metamorphosis

Youth Event
""Metamorphosis""
With SOT (School Of Theology) Mission Team

The whole event started today (june 20th) at 4pm~
right after Children church~ for a start, everyone who entered the 2nd floor were greeted with lots of welcoming smiles, laughter and applause from the mission team~

The Games
(team C point of view)

from there everyone had a short moment to group in their cell group and talk to the new-comers who came~ After that, we were all asked to meet at the center to split into groups for the games~
A total of 4 teams were created and 4 games to be played =D
unlike most of time the church usually stick to their own cell group~
but really today was truly amazing~
everyone played the games with full teamwork and co-operation which are barely noticable most of the time.
I really feel that this event made everyone closer together, I was in team C during the games event and even though Sonia was made leader of the team it was as though everyone pitched in equally instead of leaving everyone to the leader which I really find awesome~ xD
the games were~

Sudoku~
I'm not sure how to explain it throughly but it's the game where you're to find numbers in boxes and they cannot be the same numbers as the numbers from the horizontal or vertical line.

this was the 1st game, game group C played~ we were splitted into 5 groups and were to finish 5 sudoku puzzle and the faster we do it the more points we'd get, 4 were done in a matter of minutes. The last one however was done later but will full support from everyone else who were done. However, we were still the first team to finish the game and the mission team who was incharge of that game introduced themselves and we all introuced ourselves to them as well. =)

2nd game~
i dont know the name of the game, something like a human circle~ hehe~
we were splited into 3 groups for this game 1 for the girls and 2 for the guys, it starts out with everyone standing as a circle and holding out their arms crossed and are to hold the hands of the person in front of them once done everyone is to find their ways to get back to a circlular form of people. After 1min 30+ sec of struggling, ducking and crossing 1st guy group managed to pass~
then the girl's group was up and done quite fast too, at that time we were given our team name "Champion"
and when it was time for the 3rd guys group to finish the game, we were all chanting
Champion! (followed by claps) and continued doing so, cheering for the last group =)
it's really really really seldom to see people cheering each other on like that~

Charades~
But unlike most of the time, you arent allowed to act out what the thing is nor are you allowed to say the words

this was lame, the mission team member told us that the previous 2 groups got full marks for it, however my group didnt~ and we all knew why.
first of, we were splited into 2 groups and we were to put someone out to pick a topic
(animals was the topic picked)
and everyone guessed and scattered due to fear of having to go up to do the charade~
it was funny and fun and rather lame~
but obviously we're a team =D cos everyone scattered to the furthur back together =X
haha but in the end the people faced their fears and stood up and gave their best =D
which is cool~ although some were pushed up by others

Last transfer the rubberband
simple just transfer the rubberband with a toothpick in the mouth from the frount to the end, each rubberband= 1mark

we were splited into 3groups and did our very best, eventually when team D was done they came over to cheer us on~ which is really really rare to see xD
so yeah it was great, in the end my team won~
but it wasnt over,
final task was team shout/chant/whatever

we ended up with
Who are the champion? We are the champion
"stomp stomp clap"~ (we will rock you style)
and a human statue~ heh

team A had breakdancing~

team B had erm... no idea~ all i saw was them tossing someone into the air xD

and team D were chanting
We are the dynamic of Jesus Christ
which was kinda cool~
thus earning them the highest mark and 1st place =)

we were all happy cos we all had fun and seriously, with teamwork nothing is impossible =D
and this is just the viewpoint of one team, I'd say everyone had learn something new today in the games =D

Around 5:30
we had a short break before the service started
we grouped by cell group, ate and talked.

Praise And Worship

and by 6:00
we all gathered and prepared to praise and worship our lord =)
after seeing a vid on this event and countless shouts/screams/claps we began our praise and worship =D
and as always we make sure it was loud! very LOUD! =D
everyone came together to worship God,
they jumped, sang, shouted, clapped.
the song sang during that evening were

The Time Has Come

I Will Bless The Lord

Breakaway

and for worship

Healer

Offering
(personal view)
After Praise and worship,
we all welcomed the mission team with claps and shoutouts~
After that,
One of the SOT Mission Team Member went up on stage to give a small talk,
everyone was like shouting and screaming when he got on stage =D
he talked on how a God will do his job according as we should too,
his examples were God and a farmer
even if god can change the weather and so on for the farmer
he wouldnt as it is a farmer's job to farm
and it is God's job to watch over him,
it is not God's job to farm.
pretty much what he meant was we all have our role to play in life
and we cant expect any special treatment unless we acquire it fairly
when he was done we started ours offering

The Word Of God~
(my personal view, as in it's what i learnt)

after offering~
it was time to begin the preaching =)
in this special event we had Sis.Selena a member from the mission team to lead the preaching
was she charismatic? yes, very~

she had us guessing what job she does, turns out she's both a teacher and a counselor
qualities of a leader? hahaz~
Anyway,
the main point of everything preached is simple:
Change & Patience / Metamorphosis

we started with
Galatians 6:9
So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up.

1st point was to Know what you want and being able to see your dream
because how can you go anywhere if you dont know where to go?

for me, I've heard people preach this many times, that we need to have a dream and know exactly what we want out of life so God can fulfill it.
Moving on.

2nd point was Determination,
because without it how do you plan on achieving your dream?

3rd point was Patience
Sis.Selena started this point with her annoyance with the passport wait at the airport when she and the mission team first arrived and she joked about Singaporeans and so on.
Her point was that everyone is impatient, no one likes to wait.
(Patience:This was preached by pastor zhuang too last year when the mission team came)
but we have to in order to receive God's blessing

4th point was mainly about Pressing forward towards your dream
if you know what you want, have the determination to get it, have the patience to wait for it, without doubt you'd have the strength the press forward and take it~

5th point? Salvation~
if you can do all of the about God will surely bless you abundantly. As God loves us and he does want us to have a dream and live out our destiny. As it is written,

2 Corinthians 1: 8 - 10
8We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. 9Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. 10He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us

After that,
Selena then gave a Testimony on something that happened to her recently.
she said it started with a phone call from her father to tell her to go to the hospital immediately.
Apparently her mother was struck down with a case of cancer however her father tell her not to tell her mum that she had cancer. Like any normal human being she was scared but God spoke to her saying how much He loved her and that He would be with her through it all. And from there she found the strength to move on without fear, by the love of the living God =)

the actual testimony was longer, this is a short form xD
moving on to praying for the people who wishes to become Christians and the people who feels insecure in their life~
the presence of the holy spirit was strong during that time, many people went up to be prayed for. I went up too, being prayed for I found peace. Absolute peace that no words can explain, heh. The Love of God is an Amazing Gift =)

we ended with a prayer for Selena's mum whom she said was feeling better bit by bit~
God bless her =D

we then had 2 Indian members from the SOT Mission Team to go on stage to introduce themselves. One is from Singapore (Bro.Jaz? I believe that was the name =X ) and the other India (Bro.Allwin?). They both tried their hardest to talk in mandarin which is well, awesome! xD good job people! =X

we then ended the event with the song
"You Yong De Ren" I guess you can translate it to be "A Useful Person?" haha
that aside...
after we were done, we ended today with a final praise song~

~The Time Has Come~
You gave Your life Your all for me
And called me Yours forever
Caught in the mercy fallout
I found hope found life
Found all I need
You're all I need

The time has come
To stand for all we believe in
So I for one am gonna
Give my praise to You

Today today it's all or nothing
All they way
The praise goes out to You
Yeah all the praise goes out to You
Today today I live for one thing
To give You praise
In everything I do
Yeah all the praise goes out to You

All we are is Yours
And all we're living for
Is all You are
Is all that You are Lord

and that concludes this event service...

But then, everyone started screaming WE WANT MORE =D~
and so Pastor Kelvin approved of what the people want~
hahaz and started praising yet again =D
Shine Like Stars
was the final song sang on that event~

Lesson learned?
mainly, was the games the teamwork and friendliness and sportsmanship of everyone is amazing =D~ and also not to give up on one's dream =)

1 (Evolution Talk 1)

Hi! Let's discuss about the evolution theory that we all have heard of. Do you think you are evolved from the apes? The following are my point of view and are not related to any other person. They are what I found through the net and books, together with my own opinions and would to share with everyone through this blog.

It was said that long long time ago, there was nothing in the world and this whole place was void. Neither were there any plant or animal. The surface of the water are plain and reflective like a mirror, there wasn't any duckweed on it; the oceans are borderless but there wasn't any seaweed.

And suddenly on one fine day, there was a roar at the sea, the winds blew fiercely, waves were formed. And right then, a lightning hit the biggest wave, broke the wave into the water particles, and then combined with the active nitrogen atoms to form the molecules of amino acid- there, the so-called starting of the living things on Earth.

By chance, the amino acid molecules formed the elementary living things - the seaweed; and by chance, the seaweeds happened to create the elementary plants and animals into existence. And after countless "chances", the elementary animals became fishes, the amphibians, the reptiles, the mammals and lastly the family of ape which is the primates. The apes were said to be the ancestor of human beings.

The story above is most likely to be the best version of evolution, it is the optimization of Darwin's theory. The evolutionists defined the above transformation as "evolution", and claimed that it is a process where only the fittest ones survive.

But the strict scientists think that the evolution can only happen by itself when every matters have an exact chance as well as eliminating the existence of any other intelligent life, the probability of succession is near to zero. A scientist made an analogy of this saying, the probability is like placing a bag of flour, a box of chocolate, a bag of sugar along with a few eggs on a table; and after a few accidental happenings by chance, you would find a piece of delicious chocolate cake on the table.

In theory, nobody could prove that the above process is not possible (that is why it is said that "the probability is near to zero"). In fact, according to the machine of probability, even if you wait till the world faded away, you would still be unable to have this piece of cake. If we consider the increasing amount of the people believing in the theory of periodical destruction of the Earth, this piece of chocolate cake could scarcely be made. Because even before the formation of the cake itself, the Earth, by then, would have been destructed for a countless times.
